Supreme Court Slows Down Democrats Attempt to Jail Trump or worse

"Democrat extremists desperate to put Donald Trump in jail before getting elected and seeking to remove his secret service protection effective immediately may not succeed in getting him jailed and assassinated afterall," says Eugene Delgaudo, president of Public Advocate.

"During oral arguments today, a majority of Justices expressed strong doubts about eliminating basic protections against then-President Trump and future Presidents. Conservative commentor Julie Kelly predicts they may remand the lower court decision back for clarification. But even Justice Roberts was openly sceptical that the Court will broadly strip presidential immunity over the issues raised so far, "said Delgaudio.

The Supreme Court's conservative justices signaled support on Thursday for U.S. presidents having some level of protection from criminal charges for certain acts taken in office as it tackled Donald Trump's claim of immunity from prosecution for trying to undo his 2020 election loss............

But the conservative justices, who hold a 6-3 majority on the nation's top judicial body, indicated concern about presidents lacking any degree of immunity, especially for less egregious acts. The contours of such a ruling, though, were not clear after arguments probing the extent of presidential powers.

The Supreme Court on Thursday appeared skeptical of a ruling by a federal appeals court that rejected former President Donald Trump's claim that he has absolute immunity from criminal charges based on his official acts as president. During more than two-and-a-half hours of oral argument, some of the court's conservative justices expressed concern about the prospect that, if former presidents do not have immunity, federal criminal laws could be used to target political opponents.
