Senator Josh Hawley

Senator Josh Hawley, Republican of Missouri, took federal court nominee Michael Bogren to task for comparing members of the Roman Catholic Church to the violent racist Klu Klux Klan in a Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on his federal court nomination.

Unrepentant and steadfast, nominee Bogren claimed to be representing a client town in a legal manner in a pending case and stood his ground. This town had prohibited Christian beliefs and barred faithful Catholics from selling farm products who lived outside the town in a farmer's market.

Public Advocate has defended the Christian family business.

Hawley equally condemned that exact legal posture as anti-Christian and the exact reason to oppose his nomination to the federal bench.

Other Senators followed including Senator Ted Cruz.

Nominee Michel Bogren has withdrawn his nomination this week.
