TPUSA's cease and desist letter to Candace Owens

Candace Owens has received a cease and desist letter from Turning Point USA demanding that she "cease her disparaging comments" about the organization, which includes implying that some of its staff might have played a part in Charlie Kirk's murder, during episodes of her influential podcast that has amassed millions of followers worldwide.
Following Kirk's assassination on Sept. 10, 2025, during a TPUSA event at Utah Valley University, in Orem, Utah, Owens has dedicated many of her podcast episodes to discussing theories about the circumstances surrounding his death.
Owens announced on her Jan. 21 podcast, which has nearly 2 million views as of Jan 27, that the conservative political organization sent her a cease and desist letter.
Here are four things to know about TPUSA's demand letter to Owens.
1. TPUSA claims Candace Owens made 'disparaging' remarks, violating NDA

Owens previously worked for TPUSA from 2017 to 2019, appearing alongside the organization's founder, Charlie Kirk, at college speaking tours. During the episode of her podcast on Jan. 21, Owens said she had "signed an agreement to work beside Charlie Kirk because he built a company that [she] believed in."
The recent cease and desist letter added that Owens "freely undertook this obligation in exchange for payment by, support from, and access to TPUSA. Her obligation remains in effect for twelve (12) months following the term of her agreements, which were on December 2, 2025."
2. Candace Owens insists TPUSA is engaged in a 'cover-up'
.................."So, because Turning Point USA is lying, it is a totally fair and reasonable assessment that they are engaged in a cover-up," Owens asserted.
..........Last month, Erika Kirk, who became TPUSA's CEO after her husband was murdered, asked Owens and others to stop spreading conspiracy theories during a CBS town hall hosted by Bari Weiss.
3. Candace Owens allegedly refused demands for a retraction
....................In addition to saying she believes that people at TPUSA "betrayed" Kirk, Owens has implied that the French government, as well as the Israeli government and advocates for Israel, might have had a role in the conservative activist's assassination.
